Digger Simulator 2011 – The Verdict
Excalibur Publishing has over the years become something of a running joke within the realm of the simulation genre. Abandoning the usual staples of military simulation, their partnership with the German developer Astragon has instead decided to concentrate on the more obscure and mundane side of vehicle simulation.

2011 has arguably been the year of the Indie bundle. In the last year, there have been five bundles from the most famous of these – the Humble Indie Bundle – alone, and some quick maths tells us that if you had bought every single Humble bundle at just one cent above the average price (thus getting any extra games offered) when each bundle ended according to Wikipedia, you would now have twenty-eight games for a total cost of a mind-boggling £16.03 (About $24.99). With these figures – and other new bundles appearing at a startling rate – it’s not hard to see why some are starting to question whether these bundles are doing more harm than good.

At the Eurogamer Expo, Michael and I attended a developer session on Hitman: Absolution which blew me away. This new trailer has reminded me of how good this game might be. I'm hoping though that we don't need to go in all guns blazing like in this trailer, I want to see some more of the sneaky sneaky action.
Mario Kart 7 – The Verdict
The Mario Kart series has been a firm favourite with Nintendo fans ever since Super Mario Kart was released on the SNES back in 1992. Its (then) unique blend of manic racing action and weapons both offensive and defensive has since become the template for all other mascot-based racing games to base themselves upon – everyone from Sonic the Hedgehog to the M&Ms has had a finger in the kart-racing game pie in the last twenty years – which isn’t bad considering that, prior to its release, many assumed Super Mario Kart was a sign that Nintendo was either running out of ideas or simply abusing Mario’s popularity and mass appeal in order to make a quick buck. Of course, it proved itself to be a massive success both critically and commercially, and since then every major Nintendo console has had a Mario Kart game to call its own.

Word comes via RPS that Google's web browser, Chrome, is now supporting the lovely indie game Bastion. You can launch the game right from your browser, I just had a quick play with the trial, and it feels very smooth and efficient, more so than when playing Bastion through OnLive. Will Chrome start growing to challenge platforms like OnLive? Too early to tell right now, but my experience of playing Bastion through Chrome was more enjoyable than playing it through OnLive. What do Google have up their sleeve I wonder?
Batman: Arkham City – The Verdict
Back in 1997, R-Kelly sang that Gotham City was a City of Justice, Love and Peace (for everyone of us.) I’m not sure he was talking about the same city we all thought he was at the time, if the menagerie of crooks, criminals and villains that inhabit the part of Gotham where the events of Batman: Arkham City take place is anything to go by…
