Post-E3 Ramblings – Dishonored 2

It seems like most of the big reveals took place before the actual E3 event this year. The new Doom had a (tiny) trailer, XCOM 2 was revealed and so was Fallout 4. Then there was the case of Dishonored 2 which was accidentally revealed during a Twitch stream before E3 kicked off. My thoughts on Dishonored 2? Hit the break.

If I can be honest, most of what we saw at E3 didn’t interest me. Maybe it is because I have way too many games in my back catalogue to play through, or the lack of Half-Life 3, or even the focus on co-op or VR games. I won’t deny that there were some decent games on show, but overall only a handful really appealed to me. As you can imagine, Dishonored 2 is one of those games.

I still think about the original game now, I might not have played through it again, but I still find myself drawn to the world. To think then that it was three years ago when I reviewed Dishonored is a bit of an eye opener. It certainly feels much fresher than that, probably in part to the two really great pieces of DLC: The Knife of Dunwall and The Brigmore Witches were both excellent and thoroughly enjoyable expansions on the story.

So to see that trailer above, and the chance to get back into the world of whale oil and political intrigue is enticing. What is even better? Knowing that you will play as Emily Kaldwin, the heiress to the Empire who now have the same powers as Corvo. That’s brilliant, and I can’t wait to get back into the amazing world that was first revealed three years ago.
