Every year at EGX, I am always so pleased to see so many indies showing off their wares in the Rezzed section, it’s great to see. As a regular attendee of EGX, if not the Rezzed show itself, I’ve noticed some trends. One big one is that Curve Digital are carving out a nice space in the market and are doing great things for the indie scene. They had numerous title on show this year at EGX, but a couple in particular caught my eye.

Bomber Crew – Turning The Tension Up

War films of a certain era hold a special place in my heart. Films like The Longest Day and Mosquito Squadron were so exciting and nerve wracking. As a kid, the action sequences would have me on the edge of my seat with the tension. I finally relived that feeling at EGX while playing Bomber Crew from Runner Duck. It’s a strategic survival game where you take an RAF bomber to the skies during World War Two, guiding them to victory…or to a miserable failure.

Iron Fisticle – The Verdict

In the run up to EGX at the end of September, I received several press releases pertaining to a game known as Iron Fisticle. I didn’t even open the messages for some reason, but the name stuck in the back of my mind. Roll on to EGX and on my first night, I attended an indie game show and tell evening in the local O’Neill’s. Lo, what did I find? The friendly chaps from Curve Digital showing off the aforementioned title, Iron Fisticle. I immediately raced over and gave it a blast while later in the evening, after bumping into ex-Reticule writer Ben Borthwick, we gave it a blast in co-op. Since returning from London, I’ve been playing this delightful twin-stick shooter when opportunity arises.
