The EGX 2018 Report – Strategy, Horror and Eternal Trips to Hell

The EGX 2018 Report – Strategy, Horror and Eternal Trips to Hell

I talked about the absence of Microsoft and EA at EGX in my opening show report, but that isn’t to say there weren’t any games to see at the show. There were plenty to see and play, and while my focus was, as ever, on the Rezzed section, I did make time for some other titles that were on show. Read on for my takes on Total War: Three Kingdoms, Man of Medan and Diablo on the Switch.

Diablo 3 – Starting the New Season

Diablo 3 – Starting the New Season

When Diablo 3 first launched, I really enjoyed it and moved past a lot of criticism that came from some of the die hard Diablo fans. When Reaper of Souls came out, I again had a great time and started to dabble in the adventure mode. But it is only now, with the launch of Season 4, that I am checking out this way of playing the game that seemingly everyone else has already worked through during the previous three seasons.

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – The Verdict

Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – The Verdict

Diablo III was a game which I fell in love with in the beginning, I blasted through in decent fashion until I reached the gates of the High Heaven’s in Chapter IV and then I just kind of stopped playing. It was the promise of the Reaper of Souls expansion, the major patch which introduced loot 2.0 and the need to play something other than Football Manager that got me playing the game again. And so, after defeating the all-evil Diablo and starting out again in Act I with my Demon Hunter, I waited for Reaper of Souls to land. Once it arrived, I got on with the job of completing the all new fifth Act and exploring the new location of Westmarch.

Career mode in Fifa 14 has been revamped. Additions include a Global Scouting Network through most countries, which allows hiring a scout to search for talent all season from various clubs globally. The Career Mode hub navigation has also been redesigned, with fewer interruptions and live scouting reports. Managers are now able to develop, build and refine their network of scouts, gathering details on the attributes and traits of players. This way of playing Career Mode also moves away from the concept of player overall rating as an on-demand metric of a player’s abilities. Instead, communication with scouts determines what type of player is wished.

World Of Warcraft Loses Two Million Subscribers Since June 2011

World Of Warcraft Loses Two Million Subscribers Since June 2011

Activision Blizzard’s popular MMORPG World of Warcraft has lost another 1.1 million subscribers this month, bringing the total number of lost subscribers since June of last year to 2 million. AB put the loss down to strong performances from their other games that have dragged customers away from WoW. They also believe that people waiting for the expansion to WoW have unsubbed until its release in October. Making a statement on the official forums they said:

Contributing factors to the lower subscribers were likely the launch of Diablo III in the quarter, which provided consumers with an alternative gaming experience to World of Warcraft (although Diablo III has not yet launched in China), as well as the lack of new content patches in all geographies resulting in less overall game play. Looking forward, Blizzard Entertainment expects to release World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria™ on September 25, 2012, which will deliver new game content in all regions that is expected to further appeal to the gaming community (with availability in mainland China to be announced at a later date).

Ten million copies of Diablo 3 have been sold since launch making it the best-selling game on PC for the first six months of 2012. 1.2 million of these people have signed up for the annual pass, almost enough to make up for the loss of subscribers to WoW.

Diablo III – Newbie Introduction Video

Diablo III – Newbie Introduction Video

Diablo III, Blizzard’s monster dungeon-crawling RPG is launching at midnight tonight. Somehow we haven’t actually talked about Diablo at all yet. Better late than never though, as after the jump there is a new trailer which will introduce you briefly to the different classes in the game and the various Battle.net options that will be in the game. Personally, I am rather looking forward to Torchlight 2 a bit more, but I am sure Diablo won’t disappoint.
