Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition – Shown off in New Trailer

Larian Studios have spent their development career working on the Divinity series, a history which has seen them dive into the traditional RPG-fair with Divinity II: Ego Draconis and RTS/political-sim hybrid Divinity: Dragon Commander. Their true success however came with Divinity: Original Sin (see my Verdict), an RPG with a highly interactive world to explore with some hardcore turn-based combat thrown in for good measure. It was a great game, and is set to become even better with an Enhanced Edition.

Our Week in Games – Week 91

This week saw details of two new services emerge as Sony launched a beta for PlayStation Now and EA revealed details of their new subscription service. In the midst of this, Sony confirmed that they wouldn’t support EA’s service as they didn’t think it offered value for money….yet their early pricing structure for Now is awful. It will be very interesting to see how things take shape going forward as platform holders and publishers move into a games as a service model. We are interested in hearing your thoughts in the comments below.

Divinity: Original Sin – The Verdict

Divinity: Original Sin – The Verdict

I’ve played quite a lot of Divinity: Original Sin yet it is only now that I have had a chance to come along and write up my Verdict. I had the pleasure of playing the game back in the Early Access stages in March and was really impressed with how it was shaping up. Nearly five months further on, the game has been released and is a majestic, and must-buy entry in the turn-based RPG genre. Or a must buy for any RPG fan really.

Our Week in Games – Week 90

The past week has seen a resurgence in Twitter activity about a massive sporting event. No, not the Commonwealth Games (they’re hardly a large event, let alone massive), it was fourth edition of The International, Valve’s e-sports competition for Dota 2, a game we have had surprisingly little coverage of here at Reticule Towers. The tournament happened, people won BIG money and it was even covered live on ESPN in America. Crazy eh? If you want a brief rundown of the event, PC Gamer have you covered.

Divinity: Original Sin Coming June – New Trailer

Divinity: Original Sin Coming June – New Trailer

I might have talked about Divinity: Original Sin very briefly earlier this month but some big news has emerged along with a new trailer that I can’t resist sharing with you all. Well, I know that if I don’t share it I’m just going to want to play the game now, even though I have promised myself to stay strong and wait until it is released before playing again.

The Indie Gaming Roundup – Death in Cadlewood, Warside and Divinity: Original Sin

The Indie Gaming Roundup – Death in Cadlewood, Warside and Divinity: Original Sin

I don’t know where the time has got to this week, it is already Friday and I realise that I’ve entirely neglected to write about some fairly cool indie game news that has appeared in the past few days. This isn’t quite a Crowdfunding Weekly, even though one game has just landed itself on Kickstarter, rather a just a quick rundown on a handful of indie games of all flavours. Hit the break for word on Death in Candlewood, Warside and Divinity: Original Sin.

Early Access – Divinity: Original Sin

Early Access – Divinity: Original Sin

Isometric turn-based RPGs aren’t normally my cup of tea, but I had heard good things about Divinity: Original Sin, and having been a quiet fan of Divinity II: Ego Draconis, a third-person RPG in the lineage, I decided to check the game out through Steam’s Early Access. You can count me as pleasantly surprised and quite keen to see what else the game will have to offer as it goes through development.

Our Week in Games – Week 67

I get the feeling there was a bit of a ‘Games Journalism Twitter Scandal’ in the past week. They seem to come two-a-penny these days and it is safe to say that me and tech journo Mike Jennings are fed up of them. The most recent event entirely passed me by, but who knows, maybe this one was serious. I doubt it was a match for Dorito-gate from a couple of years ago though.

The big gaming news from the past week was the release of the Shadow of Mordor trailer which showed plenty of Orc killing and lots of comparisons to Assassin’s Creed and Batman. My take? It looks like a fun romp through the world created by Tolkien. Count me as interested.
