Kingdoms Of Amalur – DLC Or Online Pass?

Kingdoms Of Amalur – DLC Or Online Pass?

It emerged at the end of last week that 38 Studios’ upcoming RPG Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was going to include an “online pass” which was required to gain access to the House of Valor quest line. This revelation caused a wave of fury and consternation amongst those who had taken an interest in the title. “An online pass, for a singleplayer game? How hideous!” they cried, but all is not as it seems.

Gulf of Oman shown in new Strike at Karkand DLC Video

Gulf of Oman was one of the best maps from Battlefield 2, hell the majority of the maps in that game were awesome and still blow away anything from Battlefield 3. So it is nice to see that the map that started it all with the Battlefield 2 demo is coming back in the Strike at Karkand DLC for the newest title in the series. Those classic vehicles are going to be wonderful to play with. Now for some maps from Battlefield 1942 to appear….

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – The Missing Link – The Verdict

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – The Missing Link – The Verdict

Two months on from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the dust has settled. Wisely pre-empting the ‘every man for himself’ nature of the autumn shooter season, Human Revolution is now a game rapidly depreciating in price that is still very much worthy of its Reticule Red Mist review. And it wouldn’t be a modern action game if there wasn’t a healthy dose of DLC to make up the ‘then and now’ difference in retail price. To wit: The Missing Link.

The Generosity of Valve

The Generosity of Valve

I’ve been debating what to talk about in my latest blog, I thought I might just talk about some of the games I have been playing, but something else came to mind. The generosity of Valve.

Fredrik Wester – Paradox Interview

Paradox may be all hands on deck at GamesCom in Germany but I managed to sneak some questions through to the companies CEO, Fredrik Wester. Read on for his comments on DLC and newly announced titles from Paradox.

The Magic Number – The Cost of Gaming

The Magic Number – The Cost of Gaming

With certain new games set for release at ever higher prices, while others (such as Men of War) have a distinctly lower price point and regular sales, it seems time (as ever, I suppose though) to think about what games should cost. Rather than blathering on in an opinionated fashion, I did a little survey, firing off a short list of questions to a section of The Reticule’s eminent friends in development to see what they thought about it.

Fallout 3 : The Pitt – The Verdict

Fallout 3 : The Pitt – The Verdict

Bethesda very nearly lost me for good with the last attempt at DLC. It really was genuinely atrocious. Thankfully, The Pitt proves a far more worthwhile, interesting and enjoyable experience. Technicalities regarding its use of Games For Windows Live weren’t much of an issue this time around – the experience of getting it running last time wasn’t repeated. But I’m sure there’s a better way of doing it in future once the deal with Microsoft runs out. Steam anyone? Anyway….

Team Fortress 2 Scout Update Announced

And guess what?  It’s next week! Yes, Valve has let it be known that work on the Scout Update has almost reached completion, and they’re going to kindly drip feed us info over the next week to tell us exactly what everyone’s favourite Ritalin addict will be getting come the 24th. Left 4 Dead DLC Will be Free

Left 4 Dead DLC Will be Free

There was a bit of stir in the comments section when DuBBle talked about the new Left 4 Dead DLC last week about whether Valve will be charging us for it. Thankfully Valve must have heard all of our nervous chatter and have declared that the DLC pack will be free for both PC and 360 gamers.
