Recycling Regurgitation: McMillen’s Spewer

Recycling Regurgitation: McMillen’s Spewer

Mmm Milky White Cloud Vomit.

Edmund McMillen has released a new flash game, apparently his last this year (don’t worry, No Quarter is still coming out this year, along with Super Meat Boy), called Spewer, where you play a Hamster with a bit of indigestion. As is McMillen’s wont, the game is a little bit gross, but loads of fun, having you use your vomit as a way to traverse the terrain, be it flinging you across the level with a plume of puke flying behind you, or filling up a hole so you can swim across. I’m just glad there aren’t any chunks in it.

You can play the game here, or download it here.

Super Meat Boy Gets Graphic, and Papery!

Super Meat Boy Gets Graphic, and Papery!

Sickeningly delicious.

Edmund McMillen, who we interviewed the other day, has released a trailer for his upcoming remake of his old game, Super Meat Boy. It’s deeply unsettling, and apparently, ‘the teaser is a huge throw back to those early 90s animated MTV video bumpers, Liquid Television and NES video game commercials.’ From the man himself, so it must be true. Not only this, but cubeecraft have made a cutesy little papercraft blueprint for Super Meat Boy, in the same vein as the Left 4 Dead tank papercraft that’s out there. You just print it off and glue it together, and voila, instant collectible. Or something. The trailer is below, and just be warned; it’s really rather creepy.

Leaving the Industry No Quarter – An Interview With Edmund McMillen

Leaving the Industry No Quarter – An Interview With Edmund McMillen

The many faces of Hitler.. wait, didn't we do a post about this already?

Edmund McMillen has become a bit of a poster boy for what it means to be an indie developer. He’s constantly producing games (and I really mean constantly) of a high caliber and a thoughtful content. They’ve been pushed towards the ‘art’ side of the indie scene, but they still remain very fun. In Aether you can launch yourself into the heavens by way of monster tongue, after all.

It Doesn’t End: Closure

It Doesn’t End: Closure

Making full use of dafont.com, presumably.

Yeah, I know I’ve already done one indie game post today, but this one is extra special. Tyler Glaiel, the co-creator of Aether, the Edmund McMillen classic, has made a game that’s easily the creepiest and genuinely scary flash game I’ve ever played. It’s called Closure, and it’s all about the light, or lack thereof. It’s Sam Fisher’s nightmare; a world where the only things that exist are those that are illuminated. Well, that and the things scrawled on the walls. And what I think are blood stains. I didn’t look too closely.
