PS Vita First Impressions

PS Vita First Impressions

My PS Vita arrived this morning, and while it is too early to deliver any hard and fast thoughts on it, I just want to take a moment to run down some early impressions of the new handheld that is going to be the talk of the town when it goes on retail release tomorrow. Thanks to some speedy Amazon dispatching and the Royal Mail, I got mine today, although I know there are others who have ordered with Play.com who are still waiting for dispatch. Mario Kart 7 – The Verdict

Mario Kart 7 – The Verdict

The Mario Kart series has been a firm favourite with Nintendo fans ever since Super Mario Kart was released on the SNES back in 1992. Its (then) unique blend of manic racing action and weapons both offensive and defensive has since become the template for all other mascot-based racing games to base themselves upon – everyone from Sonic the Hedgehog to the M&Ms has had a finger in the kart-racing game pie in the last twenty years – which isn’t bad considering that, prior to its release, many assumed Super Mario Kart was a sign that Nintendo was either running out of ideas or simply abusing Mario’s popularity and mass appeal in order to make a quick buck. Aliens: Infestation – The Verdict

Aliens: Infestation – The Verdict

Later this year, the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 will see the release of Sega and Gearbox Software’s eagerly anticipated Aliens: Colonial Marines, which is set to be a gorgeous-looking tension-filled FPS that pays decent homage to the highly revered Aliens franchise. Until then, however, fans of Aliens will either have to make do with last year’s lacklustre Aliens vs Predator or get their Xenomorph-slaughtering fix on the Nintendo DS in the form of Aliens: Infestation.
