My last adventure with a LEGO based video game was the extremely disappointing PS Vita port of LEGO Batman 2, so it was with great pleasure that I installed my PC based copy of LEGO The Lord of the Rings knowing that I would be getting the experience I missed with the handheld version of Batman in LEGO form.

LEGO Batman 2 – The Verdict

It must be noted off the bat that I have been playing the PS Vita version of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, a bit of much needed context when you consider the rest of this Verdict.

I am gravely disappointed by this version of the game, I have dabbled very briefly with the PC version and I can see that the game on the PC and high-def consoles is quite impressive. But knowing what the Vita is capable of, I am left feeling disappointed by the handheld interpretation.

Lego Universe has a lot in common with a second hand Lego set. It seems like an awesome premise from the outset, is great fun for a while but is marred by the frustration of finding out that not all the pieces are there. Lego games are big business, a whole host of big franchises have turned their characters into those amazing little blocks. I suppose it was only a matter of time really until we saw Harry Potter get turned into a Lego game. It is a good thing too as Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 is one of the most enjoyable Lego games to date.
