Redshirt – The Verdict

I had high hopes for this game. There was something in the way it was covered that made me think that this high-concept game would be something special, a singularity almost on the indie scene. On paper, the concept is an intriguing one: a virtual social media game, set in a faux Star Treks sci-fi universe where your destiny is largely out of your hands. There was a commentary there on modern life and social media that I found pleasing, plus it had Star Trek jokes, what’s not to love.

Eurogamer Expo – The Indies

Indie developers are great, they are often so approachable and friendly. The games they make are part of the sea change that is sweeping through the industry. The old AA game space all has been all but obliterated and indie titles are taking up the mantle with growing support from the big boys, especially Sony as Shahid Ahmad talked about on day two of the Expo. I didn’t get to spend as much time in the indie section during my time at the Expo as I would have liked, but there were a few gems down there.

I’ve only ever done a handful of face-to-face interviews in my adventures here on The Reticule and most of them have gone ok, but certainly not great. At the Rezzed show in June I was taking a peak at the Democracy 3 and RedShirt stand and happened to see a face I recognised from Twitter and his blog, it was Cliff Harris, the man behind Positech Interactive.
