“The biggest addition to The Zodiac Age is what we missed out on with the international release years back. XII took a lot of grief for the license board, and Square Enix made vast improvements by adding distinct jobs to incentivize replayability and tactical gameplay. This means you’ll be able to make Vaan a black mage if you want (but who would ever choose Vaan, right?) or maybe you’ll make Basch into a thief so he can nab you some precious goodies. Many proselytize this version of the game, and it’s pretty amazing to finally get it on Western shores. We’re also getting a much-needed fast-forward mode like the (amazing) Dragon Quest VIII remake on 3DS, which should make some of those more tedious sojourns into danger more manageable.” RPGFan.

It is always good to see indie’s getting released, though with the ever increasing number of games hitting platforms such as Humble Bundle and Steam, it is a wonder any of them actually get played, even if they are purchased for bargain basement prices. Career mode in Fifa 14 has been revamped. Additions include a Global Scouting Network through most countries, which allows hiring a scout to search for talent all season from various clubs globally. The Career Mode hub navigation has also been redesigned, with fewer interruptions and live scouting reports. Managers are now able to develop, build and refine their network of scouts, gathering details on the attributes and traits of players. This way of playing Career Mode also moves away from the concept of player overall rating as an on-demand metric of a player’s abilities. Instead, communication with scouts determines what type of player is wished.

Dishonored Gets Launch Trailer – Not Out Til Friday?

It is a sad fact that in the games industry we have this funny little trend of games being released on different dates in different parts of the world despite the prevalence of digitial distributors like Steam and Origin. As such, it strikes me as odd to present a launch trailer for one of the hottest games of the year, Dishonored but yet have to remind our British readers that the game doesn’t actually release until Friday. It is an immensely frustrating state of affairs that is also affecting XCOM, and I have no doubt that this arcane release schedule is contributing to these two games sitting at the of most shared games on one of the large file sharing sites. I hope that someone, somewhere realises how stupid this way of releasing games is sooner than later. If you want to see the release trailer for Dishonored it is after the break. …
