Clandestine – Early Access Preview

Clandestine – Early Access Preview

Clandestine is a stealth action game currently in the Early Access program on Steam. It’s developers Logic Artists aim to bring the genre back to it’s routes by doing away with the all too common feeling that your character is some kind of all powerful hero with every possible resource at their disposal to get the job done. Instead Clandestine is best played in co-op with one player taking on the roll of the spy and one the hacker.

The spy is the operative on the field doing the dirty work. Dispatching guards, picking up intel and traversing the maps like a stealthy ninja with a gun. While the hacker has no on field activities and instead has the job of supporting the spy using their various different cyber skill for things like unlocking security doors and disabling cameras.

I’ve put together a short video below that better explains the overall gameplay in Clandestine and what I feel are the good and bad points about the game.

So as you can see from the above footage, while Clandestine looks promising there are still a few changes that need to be implemented before the games full release. Remember this game is currently in Steam’s Early Access program that means many changes could be made before the official release.

Clandestine‘s release date hasn’t been set yet but if you like what you see and want to buy into the early access version on Steam, you can do so here.

The Reticule Turns Five

The Reticule Turns Five

The life of a small games website owner isn’t an easy one, and yet The Reticule has been going for five years now. A lot has changed with the site, and in the industry in that time, and hopefully I can do a decent job of explaining some of the pressures that influence our output here on the site in my words you can read after the break.

Our Week in Games – Week 25

Our Week in Games – Week 25

Chris is off this week putting the world to rights. As a result, I get the honour of ushering in yet another week of gaming here at Reticule towers. This week, I’ve been healing the sick in Surgeon Simulator 2013, Edcrab’s confusingly travelled back in time to the dystopian future of the original Deus Ex, and Kevin’s been exploring pastures new and old in Path of Exile and Mass Effect.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition – The Verdict

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition – The Verdict

Geralt of Rivia, the White Wolf, is a Witcher. Witchers are warriors who possess magic powers and superior abilities due to being taken in as children and given potions and martial training for most of their young lives. This special training can cause adverse side affects and sometimes even death, the result of this is that only 40% of children survive the final trial and go on to become Witchers. Once fully trained Witchers use their unique abilities to make a living killing wild beasts and often people who get in their way. Geralt was special, being able to take on larger doses of the mutagen as a child and undergo extra experiments to further increase his abilities. He was lucky to escape with the only side effect of the experiments being his hair turning sheet white. Without giving too much away the game begins with Geralt recalling his story of battle beside King Foltest who he recently saved from an assassination attempt. The King is retaliating against a revolt by the noble families of his kingdom who are unhappy with his rule and Geralt, knowing better than to refuse a King, has taken to becoming his personal guard.

Year in Review

Year in Review

This is a bit of a personal year in review, not just a run down of individual games which have come out this year. We will do something along the lines of a Game of the Year, this isn’t that though. This is a low-down on happenings here on The Reticule over the past year, and some of my personal highlights.

The Reticule at Eurogamer Expo = Drinks

The Reticule at Eurogamer Expo = Drinks

A few of us here at The Reticule are heading into London town in September for the Eurogamer Expo. While we are looking forward to getting to play some great games and (hopefully) interview some legendary developers, it also gives us the chance to meet up with some of you lovely readers who will also be attending the event.

A simple Google maps search reveals hundreds of different pubs in the vicinity of Earl’s Court, this poses something of a problem for a bunch of non-Londoners (and in my case and non-Englander) so we want some recommendations of where we should meet up for drinks and such like. If we get a large group of people together, we may even look to hire a room for the evening to keep our gaming-talk away from the normal people. We are thinking about drinks on either Saturday 24th or Sunday 25th September.

Thoughts and suggestions please kind folk.
