Two roads diverged in a wood, and I…

With horrendous memories of 2016 still fresh in our minds, I thought I’d start 2017 off on a more positive note by highlighting a little interactive Twine adventure that made me smile.

Described by game designer Ed Stern as ‘the Englishest game ever made’ and created by Rock, Paper, Shotgun’s Philippa Warr, A Small Walk is an extremely brief but cheerful account of a stroll through nature. Accompanied by happy little drawings of happy little woodland creatures, the choose-your-own adventure is a microcosm of countryside life and a pleasant contrast to the usual gaming activities of running around and shooting people in the face.

Completely free of charge and cuter than a small fluffy kitten cuddling an even smaller fluffy kitten, I hope that A Small Walk represents the start of 2017 becoming the year of Happy Little Games.

Tell me that isn’t the cutest little squirrel you ever did see.
